As part of my job, cold calling is a very usefull and important way to get business, I'm not a big fan of doing it but I am aware if I don't do it, I simply can't make money. I'm also aware that most businesses hate it as well, mainly because of the people who do it at the most inconvient times, such as "telemarketers" those guys give the rest of us a bad name, I do all my calling at respectful business hours and at the end of the day all I am trying to do is rasie the awareness of why you need to speak to me, afterall, I have a family to feed too. There are those who actually give you the time of day and thats what can make your day that much better when you can talk to someone who realises your only trying to help them , how hard is it to say politely, sorry I am not interested? Instead of some of the rude responses I get from most people, just remember one day I may require to spend money in your industry for something I need, it's pretty safe to say your not getting my money! Unfortunately, having a website and knowing the importance of the interent, isn't that well known to most businesses but it does need to be made aware to people, one way or the other, if it has to be done through cold calling then thats the way I have to do it. Not everyone is a scam artist, so next time someone calls you, why don't you take the time to hear what they have to say, meet with them and look at their proposal, it may well just change the way you do business for the better
